The Skinny on Holiday Surcharges...
What are they, when do they apply & why do you do this?
Holiday surcharges are extra fees collected during times of high demand.
These surcharges help us to cover the extra expenses we incur during the winter months, without raising our prices overall. It also helps us cover the expense of our helpers (whose hours and workloads increase along with the demand for holiday boarding.)
Keep in mind that we haven't raised our prices at all in the 3+ years we've been open.
Holiday surcharges are in effect from 3 days prior to the holiday, through 3 days post holiday. The surcharge amount is $5 per night, per dog, for the entire week of the holiday.
Example: If you plan on boarding over Thanksgiving, the surcharge would be in effect from the Monday before Thanksgiving, through the Sunday after, for a total of 7 nights. (Due to the proximity of the Christmas and New Years holidays, there is a 2 week block between December 21st and January 4th that incur these surcharges.. (We consider Christmas Eve to be a holiday.)
Holidays to which the Surcharge applies: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day & Labor Day.
